Christmas Tree Festival 2018 1st – 12th December

Once again this proved to be financially successful making in excess of £2,500 towards the internal redecoration of the church. Certificates and thank-you letters have been sent to tree sponsors and raffle prize donators where known. Ashby Ivanhoe College students helped with the set-up on Thursday 29th November, an article appeared in Ashby Times along with pictures of the students. Additional events were held including Hill Top School singing during the afternoon of 7th December attended by a number of residents from Bainbridge Court along with the children’s families.
The School Carol Services held during the time the trees were up resulted in an enormous number of people visiting the church. Grateful thanks to everyone who helped in any way, especially Ken, Glenis, Diana and their teams. A review and forward planning meeting will be held later in the year now that dates have been included in the Church Diary. This year all matters concerning the C.T. Festival have to be confirmed with Emma for inclusion in the Church Calendar and the Festival Coordinator prior to publishing.

Lesley Smith Performance as Peggy Knight a World War Two heroine Friday 7th December 2018

Lesley Smith Curator of Tutbury Castle was once again outstanding in the role of Peggy Knight; another very successful evening was enjoyed by the many people that attended. A big thank you to Diana and her team for the many hours of work that went into making the event look effortless. The event raised around £1,500 for the internal redecoration of the church.

Shaped Every Day

We have been asked to put together a short video of children at Trinity being asked the question “What is Jesus to you?” this will be part of the opening worship, and produce a small display about what we are doing outside of the church building.

Electoral Roll Renewal

2019 is the year when the Electoral Roll must be renewed rather than revised; this has to be completed before the Annual Parochial Church Meeting. Our Electoral Roll Officer Janet Onions has given the required notice of renewal and published the conditions needed to be included on the register, and the reasons for being included. Forms are available now and must be completed by 31st March 2019, please encourage church members to complete their form or contact Janet if they would like a form delivered to them. Waste Collection and charging for churches

Emma is in contact with NWLDC to establish if we are entitled to exemption as a religious place of worship from the charging of collection of waste from the church building. It has also been brought to our notice that bins are not being used properly with items being deposited in the wrong bins; this is all under review and will be reported on at a later date.

Newcomer booklet

This will be produced and available for people visiting the church to pick up, or for handing out at services or events, it will give readers a brief insight into what is available in Holy Trinity, the Flagstaff Family and wider.
