Please do have a look at the wonderful range of ways that God is at work amongst us. In particular this month I want to highlight one of our long standing groups that came to an end in December, Trinity Walkers. Rosemary and Mick write:

Trinity Walkers

2004-2018: 14 years of walks & friendship

After careful consideration and more than 14 years of co-ordinating Trinity Walkers we have decided to hang up our walking boots - only metaphorically speaking, of course!!

From our first walk in September 2004 until our final walk in December 2018 we have enjoyed around 130 wonderful walks in beautiful areas of the country and have made many friends along the way. During the winter months we have explored the National Forest and our local area and, as the days get longer, we have travelled further afield to areas including the Peak District, the Cotswolds, Cannock Chase, Malvern Hills, Vale of Belvoir and Rutland. We have also enjoyed a number of weekends away in the Lake District and Ross-on-Wye. We have generally been blessed with really good weather for most of our walks although sometimes the weather has been challenging like the day in July 2008 when we walked from Edale up to Kinder Downfall. The visibility was so poor that there were no spectacular views, as we had expected, and the wind was blowing the water UP Kinder Downfall. Only once have we had to abandon the walk mid-way when we found ourselves battling horizontal, torrential rain and howling winds on The Great Ridge.

We have been able to support charities over the years by raising sponsorship for our first Lake District weekend when we raised £880 for Macmillan Cancer Support and donations for our post-walk refreshments and Christmas lunches have raised £2000 for Ashby Youth for Christ.

We would like to thank everyone who has supported us over the years – keep on walking!

Margaret Weston

This month I also want to pay tribute to Margaret Weston, our leader of Trinity Fellowship for 35 years.

Trinity Fellowship has looked to provide ways for people to come into the fellowship of our church family, without being familiar with the more religious things that churches have often done on Sundays.

Notable whole church events have included meals out and a Fish and Chip supper at the back of church. Alongside regular meetings, with a speaker on the last Tuesday of each month, Trinity Fellowship, under Margaret’s leadership, has also organised our Advent Carol Service on the first Monday of each December.

It is with much gratitude that we will mark Margaret standing down from this role at our APCM (Annual Parochial Church Meeting), on Sunday 28 April at 4:00 p.m. in church.

Practical Matters

We are printing a set of just 20 copies of our 72 page Annual Report, for our APCM (Annual Parochial Church Meeting), as well as copies for those those have requested a printed version. If you would like to review the report during the APCM, please bring a tablet, if you are able.

In the PDF version the (various) tables of contents work as links to the pages they refer to: you can click on them to jump to the page you want. On any page, you can go back to the main table of contents by clicking on the words 'Annual Report on 2018' in the top right hand corner.
